The Institute has established four regional councils to assist the Central Council in discharge of its functions, with headquarters at Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and New Delhi with jurisdiction over the following states. The affairs of the Regional Councils are managed by a body of members directly elected to each regional Council, and ex-officio central council members from the respective regions including central government nominees. The elections to the Regional Councils also take place once in three years along with the elections of the Central Councils. All current members of the Institute in India and abroad, constitute the electoral college.
The Chairman of the Regional Council is the Chief Executive Authority of the Regional Council. He is assisted by a Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer and other members of the council and the various sub-committees.
